Lombard cautions residents to scam on electric aggregation program

LOMBARD, Illinois— The Village of Lombard has received notification of solicitors going door-to-door offering false information on the Village's electric aggregation program. Residents are made to believe that there is a second phase to the aggregation program that includes natural gas suppliers. This information is false. The electric aggregation program only involves one electric energy supplier with no second phase alternatives for natural gas or any utilities.

Regarding the electric aggregation program, the Village of Lombard has contracted with First Energy Solutions for all residents and small commercial electric supplier accounts. Accounts were automatically moved to First Energy unless the resident or business opted out of the program, had already switched to an alternate supplier, or were part of the Residential Real-Time Pricing (RRTP) program. Eligible residents and businesses do not need to do anything to remain in the program. Any contact for the electric aggregation from any other supplier is not affiliated with the Village of Lombard.

Solicitors, whether for profit or non-profit agencies, are required to register with the Village of Lombard and a background check is completed before allowing them to receive an official solicitor badge from the Village. If you believe that you have been a victim of this scam, please contact the Lombard Police Department at (630) 873-4400.
