Write-in bid for D41 seat:

A Lindenhurst man who was knocked off the ballot in three school board races last week has filed to be a write-in candidate in one of those districts. In an email to the Daily Herald, James Creighton Mitchell Jr. said he will run for the Lake Villa Elementary District 41 board in the April 9 election. He’s also a candidate for the Lake Villa Library board. Mitchell had been struck from candidate lists for District 41, the College of Lake County board and Antioch-Lake Villa Area District 117 because of state rules that prohibit people from serving on multiple school boards at once if they have conflicting interests. All of the races are contested, with more candidates than available seats. Mitchell is a perennial candidate who has run in recent years for president, Congress and the Lake County Board.
