Authorities arrested a Mount Prospect man Friday who they considered armed and dangerous following a domestic incident earlier this week.

Joseph L. Lopez Jr., 34, of the 1400 block of Brownstone Court, was taken into custody without incident at 10 a.m. Friday at his apartment. He was charged with two counts of aggravated domestic battery, after being suspected of severely beating a woman late Tuesday night inside a car in a parking lot in an unincorporated area near Palatine, according to Cook County sheriff’s police.

An warrant for Lopez’s arrest was filed Thursday. Authorities said at the time Lopez threatened to shoot police officers that came in contact with him and kill himself.

Lopez is due in bond court at the criminal courts building at 26th and California Saturday morning.
