According to police, Evans robbed the Old Second National Bank on Route 20 and Nesler Road around 9:16 a.m. Tuesday. He jumped on the counter and demanded money while wearing a mask and displaying a gun, then fled in a white Toyota Camry, police said.

According to a complaint filed in federal court, Evans was caught about five minutes after he left the bank. Authorities said they found black gloves, a black hat with a mask, a black hooded sweatshirt, $4,812 and a black air-soft gun in the car with Evans.

Evans will appear in court again at 11 a.m. Jan. 24.
