Woodland Elementary District 50 will host the 2013 Science Fair Open House on Jan. 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Middle School, 7000 Washington St., Gurnee. The science fair is designed to give seventh grade students the opportunity to explore their interest in a scientific way. Students learn how to isolate an experimental variable and document the steps of the scientific method, integrate and apply the skills they have learned in language arts, math, and science and learn about organizing time and resources over an extended period that ends with a final display product. Forty judges, consisting of parents and members of the community from various companies and other organizations, will volunteer their time that day.
