January 25th Deadline for Scholarship Contest at The Peoples' Bank

Seniors at local high schools are encouraged to stop by The Peoples' Bank of Arlington Heights lobbies in the next week or two to pick up an application for the annual Community Bankers Association of Illinois (CBAI) Scholarship Content. The contest awards $1,000 scholarships to winners from thirteen regions across Illinois, and this year will also award a $500 prize in each region for a runner-up. The CBAI will also select one of the thirteen winners to receive a renewable award for up to four years. In 2012 one of the entrants from The Peoples' Bank received a $1,000 award, and the prior year the overall winner was chosen from among the entries submitted by The Peoples' Bank.

“With school on break for the next week we think this would be a good time for the students to come by and pick up the application form,” said Harland Krebel, Jr, of the Peoples' Bank. The deadline for submitting entries to the bank is January 25th. Each application must be accompanied by a short essay on the topic “How do community banks make dreams come true?” “We hope students will take advantage for the break in their schedules to participate in the content. We've had good success with applicants from our area and we would like to see that continue this year.”

Interested students can pick up an application at either of the bank's two locations at 41 South Vail Avenue and 1104 South Arlington Heights Road. For more details, students can contact Harland Krebel, Jr. at 847-670-0909 or hkrebel@peoplesbanc.com. Information is also available at the bank's website at www.peoplesbanc.com.
