The Heart Of A Marine Foundation, in conjunction with Fifth Third Bank of Chicago, began the holiday season for those who support our military veterans, with a well established Chicago tradition.

On Thursday, December 13, The Heart Of A Marine Foundation hosted the residents of Fisher House located on the campus of Edward Hines, Jr., VA Hospital to holiday Afternoon Tea at The Drake Hotel in Chicago. Georgette Frank, Gold Star Mom and President of The Heart Of A Marine Foundation commented, “Spouses are the backbone and strength of our veterans. We will always be there for them. It is our deep pleasure to host this event in their honor.” She added, “We look forward to future events

with Hines Fisher House. The staff and residents are very special to us.”

Fisher House is a home away from home for families of patients receiving medical c are at Hines VA, Hospital, without cost. According to Holly Wright, Manager of Hines Fisher House, many families live there for months. Wright commented, “This opportunity to bring our residents to The Drake for holiday tea fabulous. This is a true luxury.” She also commented, “The occasion to have such an incredible change of scenery for our residents is something we will remember for a long time.”

Fisher House guests were served traditional English teas and French pastries in The Drake's Palm Court Restaurant. A harpist performed time honored carols of the season. As an added holiday treat, wandering carolers, dressed in old English attire, performed especially for the Fisher House table. Brenda, a resident at Fisher House said, “This has been an experience of a lifetime. Such an elegant way to start the Christmas season. I still can't believe I'm here!”

Drake Hotel personnel along with Fifth Third Bank representatives were equally welcoming of the

Fisher House guests. Andrew Hayes of Fifth Third Bank commented, “Fifth Third Bank has long supported Hines Fisher House. We routinely visit their location. This was such a great way to give them a day out and celebrate the holiday in style.” Several employees of The Drake stopped at The Fisher House table and thank them for their support for our military. “How wonderful to have them here” commented a Palm Court member of staff. “They make our holiday brighter!”
