Local artisans sell wares at Elgin’s Haight Winter Market

Shoppers looking for a unique holiday experience are invited to attend this year’s Holidays at the Haight Winter Market.

This marks the third year for this festive event, which opened Dec. 7 and runs Fridays and Saturdays through Dec. 22 in downtown Elgin.

Close to 40 artisans will be housed inside the historic Haight Warehouse, home of the Next Wave Art Salon, where they’ll feature a variety of gift options, ranging from jewelry and clothing to meats and cheeses, home furnishings, accessories and paintings, ceramics and more.

“This is event is quickly becoming an annual tradition,” said Linda Haight, owner of the Haight Warehouse. “This year, we increased the number of vendors and there is much more variety for people to choose from.”

The Holidays at the Haight Winter Market is an opportunity for people to try a new shopping experience that frees them from the hassles of going to a mall, adds Haight. “The atmosphere at our market is relaxed and fun,” she says. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for people to take a stroll throughout the warehouse and enjoy all the creative gift options that are available to them. It’s something different.”

The Holidays at the Haight Winter Market will run from 4 to 8 p.m. Fridays, Dec. 14 and 21; and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays, Dec. 15 and 22. The warehouse is at 166 Symphony Way (north end entrance) just behind Danny’s Pizza.
