Special Party for All Things Hobbit at Palatine Library

The Palatine Public Library District will host a special party to celebrate the theatrical release of "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey." Fans in grades 5 through adult can enjoy hobbit-friendly food, games, activities, and door prizes on Wednesday, December 19 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Guests dressed in Lord of the Rings-inspired costumes will be eligible to win AMC gift cards.

Written by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit was first published in 1937 and remains popular today due to its enduring themes and entertaining plot. The novel is set in Middle-Earth, a magical version of the author's native England, where dwarves and dragons fight over treasure and life-changing adventure awaits anyone willing to heed its call.

The Hobbit is also the Palatine Public Library District's 2013 selection for its annual "One Book" program. Book discussions and other fun-filled events are planned for February 2013.

Enthusiasts can jumpstart their journey to Middle-Earth at the Hobbit Fan Fest on December 19. Free tickets to this event are available at the Reader Assistance Desk of the Main Library (located at 700 N. North Ct. in Palatine).
