Cary home uninhabitable after fire

A fire in a two-story home in unincorporated McHenry County Monday morning severely damaged the home.

The Cary Fire Protection District responded to a call at 8:23 a.m. to the home in the 200 block of Machelle Drive.

No one was home and there were no injuries.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze within minutes of arrival, however, it sustained severe smoke and water damage and is uninhabitable.

Several departments assisted at the scene, including Algonquin-Lake in the Hills, Fox River Grove and Nunda Rural fire departments.

Crystal Lake, Lake Zurich, McHenry, Wauconda, and West Dundee Fire Department covered the Cary station during the call.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
