Suspicious package delays some Metra trains

A suspicious package created delays for some Metra commuters Monday evening.

Chicago police responded to a call at 5:27 p.m. of a suspicious package on the railway in the 2000 block of North Narragansett near Galewood.

Police determined it was a normal package, said Officer Veejay Zala.

Trains on the Milwaukee District-West line out to Elgin were delayed up to 25 minutes.

Additional 15 to 45 minute delays were reported on the North Central Service line, which includes stops in Lake Villa and Antioch. Freight train interference contributed to delays on this line, according to Metra.
