Des Plaines police collect coats for needy

The Des Plaines, Park Ridge and Niles police departments are partnering on a coat drive to assist Maine Township families.

The departments will collect winter coats for the needy in their communities. Clean and gently worn used coats and jackets may be dropped off at any of the participating police stations now through Nov. 11.

A drop box for the coats will be located in the lobby of each department, open 24 hours a day.

The Des Plaines police station is at 1418 Miner St.

Coats will be distributed to Maine Township residents from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Maine Township Hall, 1700 Ballard Road, in Park Ridge.

For information, call Des Plaines Officer Colin Johnson at (847) 391-5400.
