Police find weapons, drugs in McHenry County house

McHenry County Sheriff's deputies arrested three people after finding several weapons and drug-related items in a home on the 9900 block on McConnell Road near Woodstock Thursday, authorities said.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Office worked with police departments in Carpentersville, Huntley and Lake in the Hills on an investigation of stolen guns and narcotics. A news release from the sheriff's office said during a search of the home, deputies found one Uzi 9 mm semiautomatic pistol, a semiautomatic pistol, two revolvers, numerous rounds of ammunition, a digital scale, drug paraphernalia, and 3.5 grams of cannabis. McHenry County Animal Control also removed two pitbulls from the house.

Authorities arrested Lee Modesto Cruz, 27, Kevin Riley, 31, and Colleen Loud, 22, all of the McConnell Road address, the release said. Cruz was charged with three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, two counts of unlawful possession of firearm ammunition by a felon, possession of certain dogs by a felon and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Riley was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, unlawful possession of firearm ammunition by a felon, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of cannabis. Loud was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, the release said.

Loud has been released on bond, but Cruz and Riley remain in custody at the McHenry County jail.
