Missing Palatine teen found safe in Elgin hospital

Palatine police said a missing 19-year-old has been found alive at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.

Police Cmdr. Kurt Schroeder said authorities discovered Ryan Piezonka on Wednesday, Sept. 26, wandering around Cary-Algonquin Road in unincorporated McHenry County. His family told police Piezonka left his residence on Grove Avenue at noon the previous day.

Schroeder said Piezonka was unable to speak or communicate when he was found, and was combative on the street and in the hospital. Schroeder said he calmed down Saturday, Sept. 29, and was fingerprinted, leading authorities to discover he was the missing Palatine teen.
