Gurnee-based Woodland Elementary District 50 has received an award for its communications efforts from a statewide group. The Illinois chapter of the National School Public Relations Association gave an award of merit to Woodland's website, dist50.net. Entries were judged against criteria of excellence, and only those receiving top scores in a variety of areas received awards. District 50's was recently redesigned in an effort to enhance communications with staff, parents, students and the community. District 50 also received the Golden Achievement Award of Excellence for its efforts to change the funding structure of state-chartered schools.
