‘Pink out’ volleyball Saturday to raise money for cancer research

On Saturday, Sept. 15, a volunteer for the American Cancer Society will hold a “Pink Out” Sand Volleyball Tournament at Twin Lakes Recreation Area in Palatine, to benefit the ACS.

“For the past five years I have spent countless hours volunteering for the American Cancer Society,” said Sarah Fader. “It is not only rewarding but having lost multiple grandparents to cancer I know I am doing my part to ensure that a cure is found.”

The Pink Out Sand Volleyball Tournament, which is raising money for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk Run, will begin at 8:30 a.m. Games start at 10 a.m. The Salt Creek Rural Park District is hosting the event, and their concessions provider, RoccoVino’s, is providing each participant with a drink voucher for the day.

Waist Up Imprinted Sportswear is sponsoring the event by helping cut down on T-shirt costs, and sponsors like the Chicago Wolves, Chicago Rush, Fitness 19, Francesca’s Tavola and Cafe 14 have all donated prizes for winners.

Space is still available to participate in the tournament which includes three brackets of doubles teams; men’s, women’s and a coed bracket. All playing levels are welcome, and friends and family are encouraged to come out to cheer.

People who can’t make it out for the day are still invited to buy a T-shirt.
