Richard Himes was the only person in the vehicle and was unresponsive when the trooper arrived, police said.

The trooper forced his way into the vehicle and was unable to feel a pulse on Himes.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a Cook County medical examiner's office spokesman.

There were no immediate signs of trauma on Himes, according to the medical examiner's office, and police said there is no indication of foul play.

The cause of death was undetermined as of Thursday night. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

Illinois State Police classified the case as a "suspicious death investigation."
