Woodland District 50 hosting another residency event

Woodland Elementary District 50 will host another event for parents to prove they live within the proper boundaries before sending their children to school.

District 50 will hold its sixth annual proof of residency event Aug. 7-9 at the Woodland Middle School gymnasium, 7000 Washington St. in Gurnee, from noon to 8 p.m. the first two days and noon to 6 p.m. for the finale.

Last year, more than 97 percent of families proved residency within Woodland boundaries prior to the first day of school. That amounted to 4,163 families.

During the residency event, parents will be given their school, class and bus information. Families will have the opportunity to pay fees, deposit funds in lunch accounts, obtain information regarding PTA and the Woodland Educational Foundation, obtain forms for fee waivers and free or reduced lunch applications and view classroom lists for every school.

In addition, a survey will be conducted regarding ways to improve communications and community engagement practices from the Woodland school board. The purpose of the event is to confirm that all students attending school are District 50 residents.

Longer lines are expected on the first day. For details regarding the schedule or process, call (847) 596-5682 or visit dist50.net.
