CCU donates $3,000 to People Lending Assistance Network

Consumers Credit Union recently donated $3,000 in support of People Lending Assistance Network, 1892 Nicole Ave. in Round Lake Beach.

PLAN, a not-for-profit organization, provides food, clothing, appliances, education and job assistance to individuals and families. PLAN primary commitment is serving the central Lake County area, relying almost exclusively on donations to fund operations and stock their shelves.

Founded in June of 2007 under the leadership of PLAN Director Michael Pimpo, the organization is run entirely by local resident volunteers who choose to help others in need. Volunteers for the organization range from retired military personnel, adult volunteers and local students, many from area churches. PLAN provides extremely efficient services to those in need five days a week. For example, each dollar donated to PLAN purchases 9 pounds of food through the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

“Its comforting to know there are still organizations like PLAN to lend a helping hand to those less fortunate then others, especially during these challenging economic times,” said Sean M. Rathjen, President of the Member-owned credit union. “PLAN is a vital part of our community, providing goods and services to families in the surrounding area. Consumers Credit Union is both proud and excited to support their outstanding efforts as part of our commitment to work for the betterment of those in need. PLAN is a great example of the type of organization that deserves our support.”
