Two Carol Stream men face burglary charges

Two Carol Stream men who admitted to stealing $10,000 worth of merchandise from a nutritional supplement store in Glendale Heights now are charged with two counts each of burglary, authorities said Friday.

Samier A. Mahdi, 23, and Duy T. Nguyen, 23, were discovered at the store in the 2100 block of Bloomingdale Road about 4 a.m. Thursday, police said.

In questioning, Mahdi and Nguyen admitted to burglarizing the business early Thursday morning and on July 6, according to Glendale Heights police.

In their first burglary of the nutritional supplement store July 6, Mahdi and Nguyen got away with $10,000 worth of merchandise, authorities said. Police discovered their vehicle and stopped them Thursday morning before they could gather any more.

“The second time, they were caught in the act of trying to remove everything,” Glendale Heights Sgt. Douglas Flint said.

Mahdi and Nguyen were being held in DuPage County jail and appeared in bond court Friday morning, Flint said. They could face three to seven years in prison if convicted.
