FBI: Suspect in three robberies hits Elmhurst bank again

A suspect who robbed a Bensenville bank in April and an Elmhurst bank about a month ago struck at the same Elmhurst bank Monday morning, according to the FBI.

The man, who is described as a white or Hispanic and between 40 and 45 years old, robbed the Inland Bank and Trust, 539 South Spring Road in Elmhurst, at nearly the exact time and in the same fashion he did one month ago.

On Monday, the second Monday of the month, the robber passed a note to a teller demanding money and implying that he had a gun, according to police.

The suspect left the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of money after the robbery, which occurred at about 10:22 a.m.

On June 11, also the second Monday of the month, a suspect who is believed to be the same man handed a note to a teller at the Inland Bank and Trust at about 10:10 a.m. demanding cash, according to the FBI. The note also implied he had a gun.

During both robberies of the Elmhurst bank, the suspect, who is between 5-feet 9-inches and 6-feet tall with a medium build, was wearing sunglasses. He was also wearing sunglasses when he robbed the Chase Bank in Bensenville at 123 W. Main Street on April 2 — also a Monday morning — according to police.

On that morning, he also passed a note to a teller demanding cash while wearing sunglasses and fled on foot.

Police said the man matched descriptions given by victims as well as surveillance photos in all three robberies.

No weapon was displayed during any of the three robberies, and there were no injuries, according to the FBI.

During Monday morning's robbery, the suspect was wearing sneakers, a short-sleeved shirt that was black on the front and had a gray pattern on the back and khaki shorts.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Chicago office of the FBI at (312) 421-6700.

Police released this surveillance photo of a man who robbed the Chase Bank. 123 W. Main Street, in Bensenville on April 2. The same man is suspected of robbing the Elmhurst Inland Bank and Trust at 539 S. Spring Road Monday morning for the second time in two months.
