Golf at Geneva National to support Woodland Educational Foundation

A foundation supporting Gurnee-based Woodland Elementary District 50 will stage a golf outing to raise funds in late July.

Woodland Educational Foundation is sponsoring its sixth annual golf outing Wednesday, July 25, at Geneva National Golf Club in Lake Geneva, Wis. It will be one of two major fundraisers for the foundation.

Last year, roughly $16,000 was raised at the golf outing.

All proceeds go to support the students and staff at District 50. Over the past four years, funds raised at the golf outing have gone toward the purchase of electronic white boards, computer tablets, supplemental curricular material, choral risers, playground equipment for early childhood, software, microscopes, guitars and a fitness station.

“By supporting this event through your participation or by making a general donation, we will be able to continue to help to meet the needs of the staff and students at Woodland,” Executive Director Penny Dagley said.

Woodland Educational Foundation was established in 2006. A team of District 50 staff and community members collaborated to establish a foundation that would creatively generate and distribute resources with which to enrich and enhance the opportunities of educational experiences of students.

The foundation’s intent is to create a mechanism to receive and disperse funds, properties and gifts of any kind to benefit the students and staff for innovative projects, student scholarships, support for supplemental projects and technology.

Anyone interested in participating in the golf outing or donating funds toward the event can call Ken Detina at (847) 561-7457 or visit www.dist50.net/FoundationInfo/pages/default.aspx.
