First of Butterfield Road closures starts Thursday

Starting Thursday, June 14, Route 59 will be reduced to two lanes at Butterfield Road in Warrenville for a widening and reconstruction project, officials said.

Traffic will be shifted to northbound lanes and reduced to one lane in each direction until June 28, when it shifts to southbound lanes for roughly five weeks, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Winfield Road at Butterfield also is scheduled to be reduced to one lane each way for about five weeks starting June 28. On July 5, Naperville Road at Butterfield in Wheaton will be reduced to one lane in each direction for four or five weeks.

IDOT officials said the closures are part of an ongoing effort to widen and rebuild Butterfield Road through Wheaton and Warrenville.
