FBI: Suspect wanted in two bank robberies
A man who is suspected of robbing a Bensenville bank in early April struck again Monday morning, this time in Elmhurst, according to the FBI.
The suspect, who witnesses described as a white male between 40 and 45 years old, passed a note to a teller at the Inland Bank and Trust at 539 South Spring Road in Elmhurst at about 10:10 a.m. Monday, authorities said.
The note indicated the man had a gun, and demanded cash. No weapon was displayed during the robbery, but the teller handed over an undisclosed amount of money and the man fled on foot, police said.
On April 2, which was also a Monday, a man matching the description and surveillance photos of the suspect, robbed the Chase Bank in Bensenville at 123 W. Main Street, police said.
At about 11:54 that morning, the suspect passed a note to the teller demanding money from her drawer and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. He did not display a weapon.
The suspect who is approximately 6 feet tall with short dark hair was similarly dressed during both robberies, according to the FBI.
On Monday he was wearing a dark sweatshirt, dark Windbreaker-type pants and sunglasses. On April 1, he was wearing a gray sweater and gray running pants while wearing sunglasses, police said.
No bank employees were injured during either robbery, the FBI said.
