Palatine Chamber to host Community BBQ and Pig Roast

If you fancy meat, music and mingling, you’ll want to check out the PalatineArea Chamber of Commerce’s first Community BBQ and Pig Roast later this summer.

Palatine officials this week approved the event, which will take place from noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at the BMO Harris Bank lot, Brockway and Slade streets.

Organizers Mindy Phillips and Liz Noe said the gathering calls for entertainment, including family activities, live bands and a DJ. Lamplighter Inn Tavern and Grille will have a truck on-site to provide beer.

The main event, however, will be the food. Brothers Ribs will provide the pig roast, Culver’s the BBQ and Morkes Chocolates the sweets. A fourth food vendor likely will be named at a later date.

Setup for the event, which includes a tent, stage, tables and chairs, will begin the night before. To accommodate the Friday night Downtown Car Show, BMO Harris Bank will allow spectators to park in the lots at the northeast corner of Slade and Greeley.
