Hatcher arranges forum on Lily Lake roadwork

State Rep. Kay Hatcher is having a public hearing Friday about the reconstruction of the intersection of Routes 64 and 47 in Lily Lake.

The hearing is from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Campton Township Community Center, 5N082 Old La Fox Road, Wasco.

District representatives from the Illinois Department of Transportation will discuss the project’s scope and schedule. They will also listen to residents’ concerns and answer questions about road closures, detours and other aspects of the project.

“We are already seeing the road closures and detours having a big impact on some small businesses in the immediate area,” Hatcher said in a prepared statement. “Most road improvement projects do require some temporary inconvenience, but we need to make sure that they are planned to have the least impact possible on local families’ daily lives, and on local businesses’ bottom lines. At the hearing IDOT representatives can hear the community’s concerns on this project and how we can work together to minimize the impact.”

The state is adding a traffic signal and turn lanes. Route 64 has been closed east of the intersection, to almost Anderson Road. When that stretch is reopened, Route 47 will be closed south of Route 64. The officially designated detour roads are Route 38 and La Fox Road.

Hatcher, a Republican from Yorkville, serves the 50th District. She will stand for re-election in November against Democrat Andrew Bernard of Batavia.
