IC wins 11th in a row
Courtesy runner Kathleen Ryan scored on a bases-loaded passed ball with one out in the bottom of the eighth, and Immaculate Conception rallied to beat Montini 5-4 on Tuesday in Elmhurst for its 11th straight win. Singles by Katelyn Conenna and Jessica Conenna started the rally, Ryan ran for Jessica Conenna and one out after a Jocelyn Sanchez walk Ryan scored on the passed ball.
Winning pitcher Jessica Conenna (10-3) struck out four and allowed 4 hits. Montini (9-8, 5-1 Suburban Christian Conference Blue) led 4-0 after four innings, but IC (12-4, 6-0 Suburban Christian Conference Gold) tallied a run in the fifth and 3 in the sixth to tie it. Katelyn Conenna was 2-for-4 with a run scored, 2 RBI and a double in the sixth inning.
Waubonsie Valley 5, St. Charles East 0:
Shannon Hohman (9-2) fired a two-hitter, striking out four, and put the finishing touches on the No. 16 Warriors’ win with a three-run homer in the sixth in Aurora. Katie Benson doubled and tripled for Waubonsie (12-4, 6-1 Upstate Eight).
Lake Park 11, Batavia 1:
Logan Cahill’s two-out bases-clearing double highlighted a six-run second inning for the Lancers (8-7, 5-1 Upstate Eight) in Roselle. Kelly O’Neill was 2-for-2 with 3 runs scored and winning pitcher Marilyn Perry (7-4) allowed 3 hits over three innings.
Metea Valley 11, Streamwood 1:
Alise Perna went 3-for-4 with a double and 5 RBI, keying a 13-hit attack for the visiting Mustangs (7-5, 4-3 Upstate Eight). Alyssa Coletto doubled twice and Alexa Caputo drove in 2 runs.
Fenton 15, Ridgewood 0:
Taylor Pugliese went 3-for-4 with 2 runs and 3 RBI and Dana Fritz (2-2) threw a four-hitter for her first career shutout. Steph Susmarski and Hannah Wassmann each went 2-for-4 and scored twice for Fenton (7-8, 3-2 Metro Suburban Conference).
Seneca 9, Lisle 4:
Visiting Seneca scored 4 runs in the fifth and 4 more in the sixth for an Interstate Eight Conference win. Mackenzie Buchelt homered for Lisle (10-3, 3-3).
