Villa Park man pulled from pond dies
A Villa Park man died early Saturday after falling into a pond near an apartment complex in unincorporated Des Plaines.
Anthony Hensley, 37, died at 8:16 a.m. after being transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, said a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
North Maine Fire Protection District divers and other first responders found Hensley under about 12 feet of water about 7 a.m. near the 9300 block of Bay Colony Drive. A jogger reported seeing him fall off a kayak into the water, Deputy Chief Jim Reid said.
First responders from Niles, Park Ridge, Glenview, Northbrook and Prospect Heights assisted in the rescue operation, Reid said.
Hensley apparently worked for a company that keeps geese away and he had been doing service work on the pond, said Reid.
No other people were involved, Reid said.
