McPrincipal's Night a huge success!

On Tuesday, March 13th, South Elmhurst and Villa Park McDonald's were hosts to a very successful McTeacher's Night! Dubbed McPrincipal's Night for this event, Principals and Vice-Principals from the district's schools worked at McDonald's from 4:00-7:30 pm, at both restaurants, to raise funds for the Elmhurst District 205 PTA Council for Scholarships.

The O'Keefe's, owners of the restaurants, have never seen or heard of a more successful McTeacher's Night. The Elmhurst community reminded the O'Keefe's of the spirit and tradition that McDonald's founder Ray Kroc had for giving back to the restaurant communities.

Hundreds of students, families and friends lined up at both restaurants to hand in their fundraiser slip with their dinner order. Thankfully it was such a gorgeous day, folks didn't seem to mind the long lines that formed outside and around the restaurants. Families were able to enjoy the evening eating outside picnic style on the lawn.

Principals and Vice-Principals had a blast working behind the counter and drive-thru, and greeting the crowds. Mr. John Glimco, Bryan Middle School Principal, said he practiced all week saying "Would you like fries with that?"

Ronald McDonald made a special appearance at both restaurants as well as an impromptu drum line of York High School's musicians. Ronald and the student musicians entertained the crowd's inside and out, taking full advantage of the spring-like weather.

The exact amount raised during the fundraiser is still being counted, but the restaurant owner's believe it's record-breaking totals!

Thank you to the families for coming out to support your District 205 PTA Council for Scholarships. A special thank-you goes to all the Principals, Vice-Principals and supporting District 205 staff members for your hard-work and spirit. And a final thank-you to the O'Keefe family, restaurant managers and staff for hosting this event, and for all your hard work.
