What to watch: Finally, three months into the season, the Hawks and Red Wings meet for the first time. While Detroit is 14-2-1 at home, its road record is just 9-10-0. The Wings are fifth in the NHL on the power play with Johan Franzen owning 9 power-play goals. Tomas Holmstrom (groin) is out indefinitely. The Hawks won the season series last year 4-2 with Corey Crawford going 4-1 with a 2.01 goals-against average. Detroit won two of the three games in Chicago.
