Barrington recycle event is Oct. 22

The Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County will hold an electronics recycling collection and a document destruction event, from 9 a.m.-noon Oct. 22 in the North Commuter Parking Lot, Main and Wool streets, Barrington.

Electronics is the largest growing part of our waste stream. To ensure convenient recycling opportunities are available, SWANCC is providing one-day collection events for residents to drop off electronics in addition to weekly drop-off locations at no cost.

Under the new Electronics Products Recycling and Reuse Act (SB2313), the following items only will be accepted:

Computers — PCs and laptops; scanners; computer monitors; mobile phones; mice, keyboards, zip drives; MP3 players; televisions; PDAs; printers; VHS players; fax machines; DVD players; video game consoles; DVR/cable boxes.

Electronics from businesses, institutions or schools will not be accepted.
