A Huntley tea party gathering last night may have served as a campaign launching point for Congressman Joe Walsh as much as it served as a public forum on gun rights. 14 hospitalized after bus flips in Hanover Park crash

Fourteen people were hospitalized, including 13 on a shuttle bus, after a two-vehicle crash in Hanover Park yesterday, which caused the bus to flip onto its roof. Fire department officials said a vehicle headed south on County Farm Road lost control and struck the side of the 18-seat bus, sending it into a curb. The bus then rolled and the car ended up in a small embankment. Three of the injuries were considered serious, but most likely nonlife-threatening, officials said. Full story.

Two men rob Antioch store at gunpoint

Antioch police hope a surveillance photo of two armed robbers' getaway vehicle will help catch the men who robbed a Game Stop store at gunpoint yesterday. The men, each armed with a handgun, demanded not only money but also the store's surveillance equipment before fleeing in a Lincoln Navigator. The men entered the store at 489 E. Route 173 around 11:30 p.m. and fled on Route 173. Full story.

Results to determine whether Roselle man died from bee stings

Results of an autopsy on a 62-year-old Roselle man could be released today, which will determine whether or not he died from bee stings Monday evening outside his home. Bruce Madiar was found dead with multiple bee stings, and police said he was removing a hive on his property. Police officials also said he was found with a can of bee repellent. Madiar's wife told police she did not think he was allergic, according to police reports. Full story.

Chili's in Rolling Meadows closing

Chili's Grill & Bar Restaurant in Rolling Meadows will close its doors today after being unable to reach a lease agreement with its landlord, a spokesman for the company confirmed. “We are actively seeking another location in the Rolling Meadows area,” said Andre Bynum, director of marketing for the company. Killer in Prospect Heights murder-suicide was victim's boss

Details of Monday's Prospect Heights murder-suicide continue to trickle in, as police now say the man who killed 42-year-old Dong (Donna) Yu was a waitress at her killer's Japanese restaurant in Glenview. Yu, who was a mother of two, was killed by Keon Suk Oh, the owner of Tatami Japanese Restaurant on Waukegan Road. Oh had no serious criminal history before Monday's shootings, according to court records. Full story.

Fire causes $750,000 in damage to Hampshire plant nursery

The cause of a massive fire that engulfed a Hampshire plant nursery yesterday remains under investigation, but fire department officials estimated the damage to the greenhouse and its contents at $750,000. About half of the 100-by-300-foot greenhouse at Klehm Growers on Route 72 was damaged by the early morning fire. Eighteen fire departments sent units to help fight the blaze at the family business, which the Klehms have owned for 30 years. Full story.

East Aurora teacher accused of sending student lewd photos

A female teacher at East Aurora High School has resigned amid allegations that she sent a student lewd photographs. The matter, under investigation by the Aurora Police Department, came to the school's attention last week and the teacher abruptly resigned, according to a District 131 spokesman. Start may have been Buehrle's last in White Sox uniform

In what may have been pitcher Mark Buehrle's last start in a White Sox uniform, the 32-year-old lefty pitched a gem — seven innings of shutout ball on the way to a 2-1 win over the Blue Jays. In the eighth inning, Buehrle walked onto the field by himself and was met by interim manager/pitching coach Don Cooper, who handed him the baseball, gave him a hug and walked him off the field. Before entering the dugout, Buehrle stopped short and was saluted by the crowd. “Obviously coming off afterward and the crowd going crazy, Paul (Konerko) pushed me back out there and was like, ‘They're calling for you.' Ramirez doesn't blame Quade; Castro will finish as NL hits leader

With one Chicago baseball manager already gone from the South Side, Wednesday could be the last as manager for the Cubs' Mike Quade, although he has a contract for next season. “I don't know what the team is going to do,” said third baseman Aramis Ramirez. “I don't think it (the Cubs' poor record) is his (Quade's) fault.
