Business owner to run for Lake County Board District 3 seat

Tom Weber, a small-business owner from Lake Villa, is the third candidate to announce he will seek the Republican nomination for Lake County Board District 3 in the March primary election.

Weber, who said he has been part of the community since spending his early years living at the Weber Duck Farm in Lake Villa, said he will be forward thinking, and work to eliminate senseless regulations and wasteful spending.

“I am a small-business owner and have been part of this community my entire life, and I want to help our community thrive once again,” he said in a news release.

Weber is slated to face off against current Lake County Board member Jim Newton, a Republican from Lindenhurst. Newton was appointed to the position after former Lake County Board chairman Suzie Schmidt was elected to the state senate.

Lindenhurst village trustee Patrick Dunham has also announced he will seek the Republican nomination to the seat, making this a three-way race.

District 3 serves most of Lindenhurst, Lake Villa, and Round Lake Heights, and a small, northern portion of Round Lake Beach.

Weber, married for 22 years, is the owner of Weber & Son’s Inc., a home repair business in Lake Villa. He is also a member of the Lake Villa and Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce, and is certified with the EPA and National Center for Healthy Housing.

In the news release announcing his candidacy, Weber said there is no job more honorable than to represent his community.

“There is nothing more valuable than to hold your trust. I will work to earn that trust every day as your representative,” he said in the release.
