DuPage teenagers charged with residential burglary

Two DuPage County teenagers have been charged with residential burglary after police traced power drills the 18-year-olds stole from a St. Charles garage to a pawnshop, according to authorities.

In mid-August, police were called to the 100 block of Foxwood lane after a woman heard noises in her attached garage and saw two teenagers running out of the garage with stolen items, police said.

The witness saw the suspects get into the back of a 4-door Audi and a few days later, police spotted a vehicle matching the description on the east side of the city. A three-week investigation into the crimes determined the cordless drills had been pawned at a store in Carol Stream and charges of residential burglary were authorized by the Kane County state’s attorney’s office, police said.

Robert V. Zambetti, 18, of the 100 block of Big Eagle Trail in Carol Stream turned himself in on Sept. 10 and was released after posting 10 percent of $35,000 bail.

Steven A. Miller, 18, of the 300 block of Hemlock Lane in West Chicago turned himself in on Sept. 14 and was released after posting 10 percent of $15,000 bail.

A third suspect is still wanted in the case.

Both men are due in court in Kane County on Sept. 26 at 9 a.m.
