Lake Villa dad killed, 9-year-old injured in motorcycle crash

A 29-year-old Lake Villa man was killed in a motorcycle accident Saturday night in Ingleside and his 9-year-old daughter, who was on the back of the bike, was critically injured, according to police.

Justin McBride was traveling eastbound on Route 59 at about 6:34 p.m. when a 33-year-old Lake Villa woman, who was driving westbound, attempted to turn left onto Wilson Road in front of the motorcycle, said Lake County Sheriff's Sgt. Timothy Jonites.

Police said the woman turned in front of McBride and his daughter, who crashed into the side of the vehicle and were thrown from the motorcycle.

McBride was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene. His daughter had a helmet on, but still suffered severe head injuries, Jonites said.

She was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in critical condition and later airlifted to Advocate Lutheran General where she remained in intensive care, but stable condition Sunday night.

Police continue to investigate the crash, and charges are possible against the driver of the vehicle, Jonites said.
