Missing Schaumburg teen located

A 14-year-old Schaumburg boy reported missing after he did not return home from school Wednesday has been found safe, Schaumburg police officials said.

Sgt. John Nebl said the boy was found safe at about midnight Thursday morning. No other details were given.

Police on Wednesday asked for the public’s help in locating Joshua Rangel after he apparently did not board his bus after classes at Hoffman Estates High School. His personal belongings, including his cellphone, were found in a backpack leaning against a tree near the school.

Police said the teen recently moved to Schaumburg and described him as being very shy and without many friends in the Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates area.
