Bernacki resigns from Hoffman Estates Park Board

After 13 years of serving on the Hoffman Estates Park District Board, Commissioner Craig Bernacki has submitted his resignation, leaving his current position.

According to Bernacki, he is leaving the park district to spend more time with his parents, who require his attention and care.

“Family comes first and I just didn’t have the time to do everything,” said Bernacki. “My dad is 85 and my mother is 80; they both need my care.”

Bernacki’s former co-workers accepted his resignation during the board’s Tuesday night meeting.

“Craig has provided a lot of insight; I wish he didn’t have to leave but I respect his reasoning,” said Commissioner Ron Greenberg.

The board’s president, Keith Evans, echoed Greenberg’s comments.

“I really appreciate knowing him; he certainly has become a friend and I’ll miss his input as a board member,” Evans added.

Bernacki, 52, is also a practicing chiropractor in Schaumburg. He has been a park board commissioner since 2001 and served as the board’s president before that.

“I’m really going to miss the people and I loved making a difference,” Bernacki added.

Bernacki ran for the Hoffman Estates village board in last April’s municipal election, but was not elected.

He does not, however, discount possible future municipal involvement.

“I may make a run for village trustee or mayor in the future,” he said.
