Chicago Philharmonic returns Sept. 11to Park Ridge

Chicago, IL (August 15, 2011) – The award-winning Chicago Philharmonic Chamber Players will return to St. Luke's Lutheran Church to present a concert titled "9/11 - Spirit of Hope" at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11.

The Chicago Philharmonic is made up primarily of Lyric Opera Orchestra members and other top-tier professional musicians from the Chicago area. Concertgoers will experience an exceptional classical music performance presented in the acoustically-rich environment of St. Luke's beautiful sanctuary.

Because this performance coincides with the 10th anniversary of 9/11, the works have been chosen to honor the special meaning of that day.

Presented will be Haydn's Quartet Opus 74, No. 4 "Sunrise"; Samuel Barber's "Dover Beach" for Baritone and String Quartet, Quartet in A minor, Opus 51, No. 2 by Brahms and Variations for String Quartet on "Amazing Grace" (9/11 commemoration) arranged by Ben Wedge.

Performers are: Frank Babbitt, viola and baritone; Karl Davies, violin and viola; violinists John Macfarlane and Karyn Macfarlane; and Margaret Daly, cello.

The concert takes place at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 205 North Prospect Avenue, Park Ridge.

The September 11th concert is sponsored by Michael Becker Fine Violins of Park Ridge. Tickets are $15 in advance ($10 seniors 65 and up)/$20 at the door ($15 seniors 65 and up). Children are admitted free of charge.
