Woodland Elementary District 50 schools will host two Sneak Previews this month, officials announced.
Woodland Intermediate, 1115 N. Hunt Club Road, Gurnee, and Middle School, 7000 Washington St., Gurnee, will be open from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20.
Parents and their children are invited to visit the district, tour the schools and greet principals and other administrators before the start of the 2011-12 school year. Teachers will not be present.
Elementary East and Elementary West will host a different Sneak Preview event this year. As part of a new initiative, both schools will open their doors Tuesday, Aug. 23, to provide parents and children with an opportunity to meet staff and drop off school supplies.
Based on parent, student and staff feedback, the district will consider implementing a districtwide Sneak Preview/Supply Drop off for next school year.
"We are very excited to kickoff the 2011-2012 school year with our Sneak Preview/Supply Drop off," said Elementary West Principal David Brown. "It is a great opportunity to welcome our students and their families to a new school year, as well as allow our students to meet their teachers and drop off their supplies before the first day of school.
"By moving our Sneak Preview to the day before school starts, it is our hope that our students will have a positive start to the school year and have less to carry on the buses."
To ease congestion at the schools, a schedule has been set for families.
