Ex-Rolling Meadows football coach gets probation

A former Rolling Meadows football coach who was convicted of his second DUI in five years recently was sentenced to two years probation and 240 hours of community service.

Kane County Judge Bruce Lester denied a request for a new trial by Douglas Millsaps, 48, of Rolling Meadows, court records show.

He was convicted of DUI after Geneva police found him sleeping in his car in the early morning hours of June 6, 2009.

During a one-day bench trial, Millsaps said he had two beers with a late dinner and had fallen asleep waiting for his girlfriend, whom he had a fight with that night, to return to her condominium.

Millsaps, who pleaded guilty to DUI in Wood Dale in 2004, stepped down from his coaching position last year. He was credited with turning around the football program.

Defense attorney Paul DeLuca did not respond to several phone messages.

Millsaps also must attend a victim impact panel in September, was fined $2,405, and must undergo alcohol counseling, records show.
