Villain draws Potter fans to Naperville

Technically, he’s a villain — but that didn’t stop hundreds of Harry Potter fans from waiting hours in line Saturday to meet Draco Malfoy in the flesh.

“He’s cute,” said 15-year-old Kirsten Slora of Palatine.

“And his eyes are beautiful,” her sister Andrea Slora, 18, chimed in.

The Slora sisters and their friends, Janaye Godawa and Olivia Stout, weren’t alone in showing up several hours early to meet British actor Tom Felton at Hollywood Palms Cinema in Naperville, where a line of excited fans wound around the theater.

Felton, who played Potter’s nemesis in the blockbuster film series, was on hand to sign autographs and greet fans there for the final installment, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part II.”

“I’m probably going to tell him it’s an honor to meet the only person to ever hug (character) Voldemort,” Kirsten said with a laugh.

A few steps away, 13-year-old Micaela Sears of Glen Ellyn also was waiting — but with a slightly different agenda.

“A few years ago, we met the (Weasley character) twins and got their autographs,” her mother, Maribeth Sears, explained. “And it just kind of created this inspiration, so now we’re going to try to get all the actors’ autographs.”

“In our lifetime,” she quickly added. “We’ll try our best.”

Felton is due to appear again locally from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hollywood Blvd. Cinema in Woodridge.
