One dead, 5 injured in Round Lake Park accident

A single-vehicle accident in Round Lake Park left one person dead and five with serious injuries Sunday evening, fire officials said.

At 4:13 p.m. Round Lake Fire officials responded to a call on the 400 block of Clifton Drive after a Ford Excursion collided with a tree, Fire Lt. Dennis Ostrander said.

In total, the vehicle had six passengers. One passenger was dead on arrival, Ostrander said. The remaining five were transported to Advocate Condell Hospital to be treated for “serious” injuries, according to Ostrander.

It took about 15 minutes for firefighters to pull the passengers from the vehicle. Round Lake Fire was assisted by Grayslake and Fox Lake fire departments.

The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Police and fire officials were unable to provide any more information at this time.
