It’ll rain golf balls at SBA Golf Classic

Come Wednesday, July 20, it’s going to be raining golf balls at the Schaumburg Golf Club.

As part of the Schaumburg Business Association’s 10th annual Golf Classic, 500 golf balls, all numbered, will be dropped from a helicopter hovering over the course. The ball that comes closest to the hole (or goes in it) is the winner, and whoever has been assigned that numbered ball is also the winner.

It’s just one of several special events at the Golf Classic, for which golfers can still sign up. A foursome with lunch and dinner included costs $700 for SBA members and $780 for nonmembers. For individuals, a day of golf, lunch and dinner is $175 for SBA members and $200 nonmembers. For dinner only, the cost is $65 members or $85 nonmembers.

Registration opens at 9 a.m. Driving range lessons are offered at 9:30 a.m. The shotgun start is 11 a.m. Following a day of golf, cocktails and appetizers will be served at 4:30 p.m. followed by a 5:30 p.m. dinner.

To sign up, contact Director of Events Melanie Sandberg at (847) 413-1010, ext. 15, or visit www.SchaumburgBusiness.com.

The Schaumburg Golf Club is at 401 N. Roselle Road, Schaumburg.

The Helicopter Golf Ball Drop is sponsored by Blue Star Energy, and the helicopter is coming from Northwest Flyers out of the Schaumburg airport.

The ball drop is only one of the events sponsored at each hole, all sponsored by different local businesses. Imagine a balmy July afternoon on the lush greens of the Schaumburg Golf Club in the company of over 300 business and community leaders.

In addition to a wonderful day of golf, special gifts, lunch, appetizers, dinner and beverages will be served.

Golfers will enjoy a day filled with contests, prizes and drawings throughout the day. Everyone goes home a winner.
