Elk Grove parks foundation receives grant for scholarships

The Elk Grove Parks Foundation recently received a $5,000 grant from the Grainger Foundation to fund scholarships for Elk Grove Village residents.

James Steffens, branch manager of Grainger in Bensenville, presented the check to Tom Cooke, park board commissioner and president of the Elk Grove Parks Foundation, at a recent park board meeting.

The Elk Grove Parks Foundation is a not-for-profit charitable organization dedicated to supporting safe and innovative parks and recreational opportunities for the park district. The foundation, which helps at-risk families with funding for their recreational needs, has had a significant increase in scholarship requests over the past few years.
