Railroad work will close Mount Prospect streets

Get ready for some detour signs. Railroad work will close two Mount Prospect area intersections for two weeks — once in April and again in May.

The closures will allow the Canadian National Railroad to replacing some track and railroad panels, according to Matt Lawrie, a Mount Prospect project engineer.

First the Camp McDonald Road railroad crossing in Prospect Heights, just west of Wolf Road will be closed from 8 a.m. on Thursday, April 21, to 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 28. Detour signs will be set around the closure using Wolf Road, Euclid Avenue and Wheeling Road.

Then in May, the Euclid Avenue railroad crossing in Mount Prospect east of Wolf Road will be closed from 8 a.m. on Friday, May 6, to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 13. Detour signs will be set up around the closure using River Road, Kensington Road and Wolf Road.
