Elgin

• Cecilio Baeza-Nuņez, 36, of the 200 block of Channing Street in Elgin, appeared in bond court Wednesday on a charge of stalking (a felony) as well as two misdemeanor offenses, according to court documents. The Elgin man watched a woman March 14 and 15 after leaving a threatening voice mail for her, the documents said. He was also charged with criminal damage to property for damaging the door of the same woman's vehicle and harassment by telephone for calling the woman 20 times with the intent to harass her, documents said. Bail was set for $25,000, of which Baeza-Nuņez must pay 10 percent to be released before his next court appearance, set for 9 a.m. March 23 at the Kane County Judicial Center in St. Charles.

• A 2003 Cadillac Escalade and a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado were damaged with spray paint sometime between 10 p.m. March 14 and 7 a.m. March 15 while parked on the street in the 100 block of Souster Avenue in Elgin, police reports said. Both vehicles had red spray paint down the lengths of their driver's sides and the Silverado also had red paint on its rear license plate. A Dodge Neon around the corner on Ashland Avenue also had spray paint along the rear of the vehicle, reports said. A 1996 Dodge Caravan Minivan was damaged with spray paint sometime between 6 p.m. March 14 and 4 a.m. March 15 while parked in the driveway of a home in the 400 block of Ashland Avenue in Elgin, police reports said. The rear windshield and rear hatch door were sprayed with red paint.

Kane County

• David E. Cornfield, 21, of the 14N500 block of Covered Bridge Road near West Dundee, was charged with aggravated assault and criminal damage to property at 10:27 a.m. Friday, according to a police report. Cornfield is accused of threating a motorist in the 14N500 block of Covered Bridge Road with a baseball bat and using it to break the vehicle's windshield and damage the driver's side door. Joseph A. Pinsel, 19, of the 1400 block of Richmond Lane, Algonquin, also is charged with aggravated assault. He is accused of threatening the motorist with a BB gun, a report said.
