When: today at 7:30 p.m.

Last year: first meeting

Last week: Geneva 48, Streamwood 7; South Elgin 52, East Aurora 8

Outlook: The Upstate Eight Conference's division leaders collide for the first time in a turn of serendipitous scheduling. South Elgin leads the Valley Division with a 4-1 record, a half-game ahead of a trio of 3-1 teams: Bartlett, Neuqua Valley and Waubonsie Valley. Geneva has already clinched no worse than a tie for the River Division title with a 5-0 record. Senior Brad Birchfield is a multipurpose threat for the Storm. The three-year varsity performer leads the area in scoring with 90 points. He has rushed for 465 yards and 9 touchdowns, made 6 catches for 215 yards and 2 touchdowns and has returned 2 kickoffs and a punt for scores. The South Elgin offense is the best in the Fox Valley, averaging 383.6 yards and 41.9 points per game. The defense more than holds its own, limiting opponents to 255.7 yards and 16.4 points per game. Storm defensive back Kyle Rodriguez is tied for the area lead with 3 interceptions.
