Dog rescue at Lake Zurich salon

Salon Coccolé & Spa, 591 N. Rand Road, Lake Zurich will hold its third dog-rescue event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2. The event will be in support of Almost Home dog shelter. Almost Home representatives will have many dogs in foster care available for adoption. Face painting and dog nail trimming will be available for $5 each, with proceeds going to the shelter. There also will be a $2-per-ticket drawing for a Salon Coccolé basket. That money also will go to the shelter. The Lake Zurich Culver's restaurant will donate hot dogs and soft drinks for the event. MHS planning 50th anniversary

Mundelein High School District 120 officials will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night to discuss plans for the school's 50th anniversary next September. The board meeting is open to the public and will be held at the school, 1350 W. Hawley St.

Joint meeting of parks, village

Vernon Hills village trustees and Vernon Hills Park District commissioners will meet in a special session at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the village hall, 290 Evergreen Drive. Topics at the village/park district liaison meeting include youth sports in Vernon Hills, village/park issues and an intergovernmental agreement regarding stormwater.
