Scouting Sullivan at Round Lake

Chicago Sullivan (0-1) at Round Lake (0-1))

When: 7 p.m., today

Last week: Sullivan lost to St. Viator, 63-0; Round Lake lost to Westosha Central, 29-0.

Outlook: Round Lake is hoping to keep everyone healthy in its home opener, which has a time change for kickoff. Originally a 7:30 p.m. start, the game will begin at 7 p.m. "We had about 4 of our key guys cramp up last week and they weren't even able to play the second half," Round Lake coach John Coursey said. "It was hot during the week and we had some very hard practices so that could have been it. Or it could have been nerves. Whatever it was, we're hoping that doesn't happen again. Because when we lost those guys, we felt like we lost a little bit of momentum." The Panthers were also hurt by two early fumbles, but saw a silver lining in the running of Jorge Venegas, who rushed for 84 yards. A linebacker as well, he also had 8 tackles on defense. "Jorge has really dedicated himself to football and to our team," Coursey said. "His hard work really showed in the game."-The Panthers will try to get on track against a Sullivan team that got thoroughly dominated by St. Viator. The Tigers mustered just 21 passing yards and finished with minus-12 rushing yards. "They have some good kids on that (Sullivan) team, it's just that St. Viator is a playoff-caliber team," Coursey said.
