Marmion Academy to display student art

Marmion Academy is hosting its second annual Fine Arts Forum at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 13.

The program begins with a student art exhibit in the lobby outside the gymnasium followed by the Marmion-Rosary Band Spring Concert at 7:30 p.m. in the gymnasium, 1000 Butterfield Road in Aurora. This event is open to the public at no cost, with freewill donations accepted benefiting the fine arts department.

The art exhibit will feature artwork in a variety of media including drawing, painting, watercolor, colored pencil, mixed media, Photoshop and Illustrator selected from pieces done by the digital design and studio art classes. Featured artists include seniors Anthony Cabral, Derek Dillenburg, Kevin Garofalo, John Heneghan and Laurence Romero, all of Aurora; Adam Andras, Jack Gunderson, Kevin LaBarbera, Jeffrey McLean and Joseph Wulff, all of Batavia; Zane Holland of Big Rock; Timothy Johnson of DeKalb; Alonso Cisneros of Geneva; Connor Rudny of Lombard; Scott Bauman, Michael Deufel, Aleric Huebner, and Nicholas Searles, all of North Aurora; Sean-Patrick Kalisz and Felipe Rangel of Oswego; Zachary Giangrego of Plano; James Gabel, Pasquale Greco and Anthony Tate, all of St. Charles; and Andrew Oesterlin and Samuel Palmatier, both of Sugar Grove. Also featured will be juniors Brendan Bakala and Brent Czekala, both of Sugar Grove.

Marmion's music department will present it's new program following extremely successful April performances at the Waterside Stage located in the Downtown Disney Marketplace in Orlando, Fla. The Men's Choir selections include an array of styles ranging from "Les Miserables" to Edgar Allan Poe's "Annabel Lee."

The Marmion-Rosary Band will feature a Symphonic Suite from "Lord of the Rings" and the award-winning Jazz Ensemble's pieces include "Hullabaloo" by Alan Baylock and "Now's The Time" by Charlie Parker. The Marmion-Rosary Band is directed by Stephen Thurlow, Mark MacKaben and Scott Lies. The fine Arts Department includes Lisa Dzuricsko, Jeanne McLean, Kristin Voris and Cindy Zaeske.
